In her Minneapolis home studio, artist Heather Renaux disappears into circus tents, dips beneath turbulent sea waters, meditates atop giant flowers and slips into story nests inhabited by magical fauna. All this imagery and more can be found in her thoughtful, whimsical and often tinged-with-darkness paintings.

Originally hailing from the wide expanses of Wyoming, Heather grew pretty much like other kids…except, from a young age she relished solitude and reflection. She loved sledding with friends but loved even more lying on her back in the snow and watching the clouds drift through the trees.

She trained as an illustrator and received her BFA at Otis-Parsons in Los Angeles, CA. Since then she’s built a following for her Folk Surrealism paintings via her online Etsy shop, gallery exhibits, and summer art festivals. Though this path in life wasn’t the first direction she decided to go, she feels like the luckiest woman alive because she’s living her deepest dream of being a full-time artist.

Sensi Seeds & Superior Genetics are proud to present the legendary UK dub master Vibronics w/ McPullish (TX). This will be the first day of the first tour that Vibronics has ever played in the US.

InsideTheRobot will be joining the crew on stage to create a live painting before your very eyes, turning the dub mixing into visual art.

The newest show in the Northrup King Building 332 Gallery will be all about the trees!

Trees are now known to share resources: water, nutrition, sugars, sunlight. They support each other within the ground, their tangled roots providing strength to one another. In the air, trees will adjust canopies to allow light to filter through to the understory. Trees illustrate beautiful community, and we thought we would share the art forms created in our beautiful community, honoring these towering organisms.

This is a Radio Show is back on Wednesday, March 6 with @vibronicsdub! Vibronics, the future sound of dub, has been vibrating the world with bass since 1996. We’ll be chatting with them about their United States debut and recent release, “Women on a Mission 2!”

Vibronics will be hittin’ Minneapolis to kick off his United States tour on Thursday, March 7! This 📻 episode will also feature an interview with McPullish, visual artist Inside the Robot, and DJ Elsewhere as a co-host!

The newest show in the Northrup King Building 332 Gallery will be all about the trees!

InsideTheRobot is one of three artists creating in real time for this event!

Enjoy two sets of music from Sonic Dream, while three artists interpret the music and create art right before your very eyes! Each set will be a different vibe, allowing each artist to be moved by the music and create a new piece for each set.

The paintings will be auctioned off during the night so perhaps you’ll go home with a new, special work of art you saw created!

"More Than Original" is a group exhibit featuring the reinterpretation of famous works in each artist’s own style.

InsideTheRobot will be exhibiting 'The Birth of Digital Venus' , a 2022 painting creation inspired by the Botticelli & Renaissance Florence exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, as well as calling back to zee arteest’s time studying abroad at the Uffizi Galleries.

NEW this year: an in-person celebration featuring a vibrant array of performances, exhibitions, and surprises at Theatre in the Round. You will find a stunning array of art pieces in various sizes created by our talented NEMAA members.

All event proceeds will go to NEMAA and support our efforts to provide equitable resources to students and emerging artists. Your attendance and donations will help NEMAA provide critical resources and opportunities for emerging and established artists alike, fostering a vibrant and diverse arts community in Minneapolis with events like Art-A-Whirl and Fall Open Studios.

BRUSH|REED is excited to perform at the 2023 Fringe Festival at Boston University in Boston, Massachussets!

This live performance will feature works for saxophone by Dr Jennifer Bill and a painting created from scratch by Linnea Maas, visual artist.

After the performance, enjoy a Q&A session with the artists and take in the Pop UP Exhibit of selected BRUSHREED paintings, including the debut artwork from 2009, alongside video featuring previous performances from the duo.

BRUSH|REED is a collaboration between artist and musician to explore the parallels of painting and sound through live performance. BRUSH|REED engages an audience through color, pitch, representational lines, rhythm, intensity and expression:  an auralvisual experience.

Let the public judge the legitimacy!

The fine arts department of the Minnesota State Fair presents an annual exhibition that is the result of a juried competition. Participation is open to all living residents of Minnesota, and each may submit one work for consideration. But! Only the works selected by the jurors are displayed in the Fine Arts Center during the exhibition.

In 2022, a total of 2,227 pieces were submitted and only 338 were accepted.

Like the Salon des Refusés of 1863 in Paris, the Argyle Zebra Gallery invites the ‘rejects’ of the Minnesota State Fair fine arts exhibition to display their rejected submission and put the authority of judgement back in the hands of their community.

Those who know, know: Northrup King Nights is a vibrant and exciting seasonal event sure to demonstrate everything that makes the building and artists special.
