Le Mur Bleu: LUKE GROTHE

Studio 114 is thrilled to present the deeply layered and emotionally resonant work of Luke Grothe.

About the Artist: Luke Grothe Luke Grothe’s abstract mixed-media work explores the multiverse as both a conceptual and emotional landscape: an infinite network of realities shaped by every choice we make. Through vibrant color, fragmented imagery, movement, and the occasional meme, Luke constructs visual maps of possibility and parallel lives. His work grapples with the tension between longing for what could have been and acceptance of what is.

“Pop culture artifacts emerge like echoes from parallel timelines… symbols of the paths we’ve walked and the ones we left behind.”

In Luke’s work, nostalgia and personal mythology collide with universal themes: regret, hope, love, loss, and the search for wholeness. Each piece is a portal that invites the viewer to reflect on their own multiverse of memory and meaning.

“We are always searching for the version of ourselves that feels whole… but maybe, just maybe, this version of our story is enough.”

What to Expect: Mixed media originals on view and for sale // Meet the artist in person during Second Saturday Open Studios // Works that blend abstract painting, pop culture, and philosophical storytelling.
Come see what your other selves might be dreaming.

Saturday, July 12 | 11AM–4PM // On view through July 31.

Le Mur Bleu: NICOLE HOUFF at Second Saturdays

Every Second Saturday, we spotlight a new artist transforming our blue feature wall into something bold, fresh, and conversation-starting.

For August’s exhibit, we invite you to step into a world of glossy nostalgia and plastic perfection with the campy, color-saturated photography of Nicole Houff.

About the Artist: Nicole Houff Nicole Houff is a Minneapolis-based photographer with a flair for fantasy, humor, and hyper-staged reality. Her work unfolds in a glossy plastic world inhabited by a certain iconic doll—her eternally poised muse. Drawing from the ultra-stylized pop culture of the 1950s and '60s, Nicole’s photographs toe the line between satire and reverence, nostalgia and commentary.

“My love for the ‘even less accurate than Barbie’ realities that 50’s and 60’s entertainment portrays complements my stoic muse and sense of humor.”

Her photographs are vibrant, meticulously composed, and rich in vintage design references—featuring Barbie in surreal, cinematic scenes that feel both timeless and eerily familiar.

What to Expect: Bold, colorful photography infused with retro flair // Barbie, but make it art—and add a wink // Meet Nicole in person during Second Saturday Open Studios

Le Mur Bleu: HEATHER RENAUX & THE COMFY PRIESTESS + Holiday Marketplace

Join us for the final exhibit of 2025, perfectly timed with the Casket Arts Holiday Marketplace. This festive edition features a special collaborative showcase between two Minneapolis artists who bring warmth, whimsy, and wonder to the walls.

December features the richly imaginative work of Heather Renaux, joined by Studio 114 resident artist The Comfy Priestess (Stephanie Forsyth)—a creative duo bringing together dreamlike storytelling, bold design, and a shared love of animals, color, and cozy magic.

About the Artists: Heather Renaux explores emotional connection and storytelling across two mediums: vibrant narrative paintings and whimsical ceramic sculpture. Her color-rich paintings invite viewers into dreamlike scenes full of personal symbolism, while her hand-built clay works of manifestation shrines, animal lamps, and quirky vases offer joy, function, and spirit.

Stephanie Forsyth, known as The Comfy Priestess, is a painter and designer whose bold, mid-century-inspired style brings Minneapolis scenes and local characters to life. With a soft spot for animals (especially cats) Stephanie's work strikes a balance between graphic precision and cozy charm.

This month's showcase features select collaborative pieces, where Heather's playful forms meet Stephanie's signature aesthetic, resulting in art that’s both soulful and delightfully unexpected.

What to Expect: Original paintings, hand-built ceramics, and collaborative artworks // Animal-inspired pieces, city scenes, shrines, and surprises // Holiday Marketplace vibes, local art, perfect for gifting or self-treating

MAY FEATURED ARTIST // LILI LENNOX
Unconventional colors bring vibrant energy to familiar Minnesota landscapes.
Lili Lennox draws inspiration from the vast backdrops she once painted in her career as a theatrical Scenic Artist. Using the same techniques, her paintings dive into a realm where highly saturated colors converge with the Minnesota landscape, depicting luminous trees and brooding skies infused with unconventional hues. Her work serves as a jubilant exploration of light, form, and the transformative power that nudges the natural world toward the supernatural.
